NOTES:
Break UR Heart and She Got The Feelin’ were the last two songs written for the record. It always seems to happen this way that once you really know what you’re looking at you see what it’s missing. We didn’t think we had enforced the idea of groove as much as we wanted to so in very quick time, we wrote these two songs. With Break UR Heart I wanted to combine my early 80’s influences: Gang of 4, Joy Division, Talking Heads with Some Girl’s era Stones. I wanted the music to be very angular – with drums almost broken apart and sharp edged, to a little disco and then a big modern chorus. I wanted this all to combine to be heard as almost a Chemical Brothers vibe or especially The Heavy – rock but modern, almost like a soundtrack. The song structure has a strange twist for the bridge or breakdown section – which is an idea that leads to “the drop” in modern structure. Kearns plays a very vibey and funky wurly part – Ray Charles was on our mind via Beck. The other musical element was my homage to John Entwistle on the out-section’s bass part. Lyrically I wanted to talk about the feeling that giving love can also endanger, of falling and wanted to give love but that sometimes that hurricane force can hurt. Think of it as if Athena crushed your pelvis. Or maybe not. There’s also a loving line in homage of Pete Townsend (Maher Baba) who has been always a creative center for me.

LYRICS:
You got the soul light baby
You got the sunlight on ya
You got the Maher Baba
You got the windows open

Don’t you want to love somebody
More than you would hurt somebody

Heart. Break your heart, Don’t it break your heart

You got me feelin’ something
You got me burnin’ for ya
You got forever in you
You got the golden formula

The more I want to touch your body
The more I’ll never get enough of

(CHORUS)

Don’t you want to love somebody
More than you would hurt somebody

(CHORUS) (FIN)
