The story of Echoplexed: I had recorded a record with my former band Superstatic
called "Echoplexed" but becasue of contract hang up had been waiting
around. Then the situation with my band changed. I started work on a solo
record almost immediately after I finished work on Echoplexed. Echoplexed
had proven to be almost a solo outing because the material was so different
than what the band was use to. They knew it was different and so did I but
we hung in and finished it together. It became apparent that we needed do
our own things - in all the best of way, which left the already finished Echoplexed
a bit of an orphan, with me half way into another record by then. So I talked
it over with the band and they felt strongly that it deserved to be released
and that I should release it. And it has!
"The Gladhouse", is acoustic based with an intimate but lush atmosphere.
Most of it will feel live because most of it was done live. This record has
accompaniment by a small chamber orchestra with the string arrangements by
Jon Cooper, who also co produced. It was started as a demo as I was making
my first real solo electric record but soon made it clear to all it wanted
to be a real record, a full one at that, and was to be top priority. I hope
you dig it. It's intense and intimate but most of all I just hope it's beautiful.
The records I dig the most are not records you can throw on all the time,
but rather are an experience and require something from the listener. I had
made records that wanted to be your everything but this one is more specific
but, I hope, just as meaningful. Read more about the making of it
here
I'm almost finished with my next solo record, It's a more "electric" record and was actually in the process of being recored before "The Gladhouse" and has tunes that have a lot of sound around them - powerful, grooving and sonically BIG! I'm working on it now but I don't have the exact relase date yet. But SOON!
I hope you like all three and if you want more info on each (the making, credits,
etc) just click here, then click on the album of interest
and then click info.
As for playing out live - I'm back out NOW
I, being
of not so sane mind, here by promise not to start another record until these
are all released.
