NOTES:
Really important song for me. The first song written to really lay the groundwork for what the record was to be. It set the mark for what was to follow as a writer. Based entirely on a guitar loop that runs through the entire song. It was about tension and release; how long could we keep the ball up in the air before it had to come hammering down in a blaze of power and force. The lyrics are admittedly just colors but have more in common with Tomorrow Never Knows (and thus the Book of the Dead) in how they are supposed to feel and come across to a listener – bypass the conscience and straight into the sub conscience. The structure of the tune is nonstandard – something we wanted to keep as a touchstone. There is Radiohead in it and there is a feeling of psychedelic but played by The Foo Fighters. It’s a trip and should feel like one, dreamlike and hard hitting. Check out the Bass part – so beautifully unpredictable – all Seidel’s doing. He was so right to stick to his guns about it! I hoped we pushed the envelope on this tune, hope you feel we did.

why take the mystery away!
