I wanted this song to be about doing things one is not supposed to. Taking some chances, exploding into the world. Light up, light a firework. Sure. But how about lighting up that fucking joint and go cause some trouble. There is no light without dark. Finding the boundaries and staying alive is the trick. Don’t deny the sensual or ignore the higher self of living – there’s you somewhere in-between. The song was written because my band needed a fast song for the live set. It became something more or totally different once we recorded it and then took it apart and reassembled. “Get lost and get back” means expecting that you won’t be lost is the wrong idea. The important part is learning from it, and generally there are soulful, meaningful lessons, and then getting back on track. Push the boundaries and keep yourself upright.
