NOTES:
I thought this song would truly be my undoing. It started with my band at the time. I was thinking Radiohead and they were thinking I was out of my mind. Very confused faces. So, I started working on it on my own. I loved William Orbits production for Madonna – a masterpiece whether you care for the tunes or not. So, I just wanted to see if I could do that – very intricate, very layered, lots of rhythmic elements. And there is sat for a long time. Deep into this record I rolled it back out and loved the tune though I knew it needed a complete overhaul. Thus, began a nonstop soul crushing, ego gauging, slow drip water torturer that fought until it’s last breath to resist, or should I say insist. We started by re-tracking the drums with a kind of nod towards more recent Radiohead groove – lots of rhythm. Erik Johnson was the pick because of his jazz background and incredible abilities.  We had Erik just play a bunch of different grooves and we then took the bits we like and made up a track. I spent the remainder of the time seeing how little I could get away with adding. This doesn’t sound like and epic battle but believe me it was. Hope we picked the right amount. The very odd middle section in the time signature of the ever popular 11 was kind of a Buckley meets Skrillex idea – intense and nasty. It was meant to push the listener off balance. Lyrically the song has two sides – one is to leave and get on with life. The other is to admit to love and stop fighting it. Like the picture that’s an optical illusion – a vase or two faces trick.

LYRICS:
Oh, can you feel it
Isn’t hard to do
But you’ll say that love is through
Is it hard to do
To take your heart away
Like there’s nothing left to say

Picks up to leave but you can’t find the door
Cause it’s hard to do
Maybe just admit that you want it too
Can you feel it, Can you feel it
Isn’t hard to do, hard to do
To take your heart away. Like there’s nothing left to say, but I think there is

Why waste another day like this
It’s over when you know you’re hit
Why waste another day like this

Take your heart away There’s nothing left to say, but I think there is

Why waste another day like this
It’s over when you know you’re hit
Why waste another day like this

Maybe you know what you came in here for
Maybe you won’t but you’ve said that before
Maybe there’s something when tears fill your eyes
Maybe there’s something that you cannot hide

Why waste another day like this
It’s over when you know you’re hit
Why waste another day like this
It’s easy when you don’t admit
Why waste another day like this
It’s over when you know you’re hit
