NOTES:
I loved the movie Lost in Translation. It’s elegance and stillness. It’s grown up and innocent. The soundtrack, which was written by the directors’ husband (singer for the band Phoenix) is just perfect for the movie. Modern, minimal, understated and elegant. I wanted to write a song with those same words floating around it. Pure and simple. When everything is still, even sweet sentiments become pure truths and not trite or saccharine. I love the guitar sound – kind of a Beatle quality. It’s an amped turned up to 11 with me seeing how lightly I can play the guitar. Also, an 80’s mini Casio keyboard joins the arsenal. I wanted to chronicle lovers meeting to the moment of adult conflict. Can they make it through? Maybe.

LYRICS:
Don’t you, don’t you need me
The way I need you

We are stolen, in a moment
The first time we meet.
Freeze this moment, this burning moment
The first time we kissed
Whatever may come

Don’t you want me and don’t you need me
The way I need you

Call my name out curse my name now
When I’m not near to you
Say may name now, scream my name out
When I’m right next to you
Whatever may come

(Chorus)

Whatever may come
Whatever may go
Whatever may stay

(Chorus)

Don’t you want me and don’t you love me
The way I love you
Love you
