NOTES:
Started life as kind of a Zeppelin guitar song. We wanted to de-emphasize guitar on this record. Being a guitarist and writing mostly on guitar, that was not a small emotional feat. We just didn’t want power to always be derived from big power guitars. Not take them out entirely like dance music would but still to use them for punch. The vocals are mostly the first take. I liked a lot of the imagery but went back and filled in to have it make a little more sense than what had come off the top of my head when I hit record the first time. Artist seem to be naturals to depression or maybe it’s the other way around. I used the trend to over medicate the problem as a backdrop. Do Your Worst is me seeing the abyss and screaming back at it. The breakdown section is that moment right after a right hook where everything gets a little dreamy and surreal before you pick back up for another round. I liked the double meaning of “do your worst” – a call to slacker or an invitation from a tired boxer that’s not going down.

LYRICS:
(Give it to the maker, Give it to the plan) 2X

Analyst said he missed
The truth inside of you
Pharmacist, Push and Twist
Gets inside of you

One, to think it over and
Two brings you closer and
Three, three forgotten and
Four takes five

Analyst: got abyss
Deep inside of you, you
Conformist or take the hit
It’s all a point of view

One, to get shit over and
Two brings you further and
Three, loose the meaning and
Four gets five

(Can’t you see, can’t you see what you really want)
(Can you be, can you be what you really want)

Analyst, baby kiss
Gets inside of you

Do your worst, Do your worst

(CHORUS) (FIN)
